To join us at the 2009 Cancer Society Relay For Life for the ceremonial survivors lap and festivities.
Cancer survivors are our honoured guests!
Relay For Life is a 24 carnival style team event that raises awareness of cancer in the community, and raises much needed funds to fight cancer in Taranaki. Teams of family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues commit to raising $100 each and keeping at least one member on the track for the entire 24 hours .because cancer never sleeps. The first lap of any Relay is dedicated to survivors. We honour survivors for their courage, strength and victory over cancer as they lead the way in the first lap of the event, proudly wearing special sashes. Following this at 1pm we will be holding a special lunch for survivors.
Why should you attend?
If you have ever been diagnosed with cancer, or are currently living with cancer you are a survivor every day. Participants include those currently living with cancer or undergoing treatment and those who are now cancer free. You can participate in the survivors lap whether you are in a team or not, and friends, family and supporters are also welcome to attend. This year like last year, we will create a survivors flag to be flown proudly throughout the event and at future Relays. Come along and celebrate your life by placing your hand prints next to other survivors. Experience the strength that comes with being around others who have lived with cancer.
